VFW Post 1741 of Auburn holds ‘buddy’ poppy fundraiser

Michael Sepal, U.S. Army retired and life member and Officer of the Day, VFW Post 1741, Auburn, left, greets and presents Chriss Moen, Army retired and life member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter A-One 33, Kent, with ‘buddy’ poppies and thanks him for his charitable donation. VRFA Post 1741 presented its annual “buddy” poppy charitable fundraiser at Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Lakeland Hills last Saturday. The annual distribution of the “buddy” poppy is used to raise funds for charitable programs on behalf of needy and disabled veterans, and the surviving family members of deceased veterans. Since 1922, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has conducted an annual distribution of the “buddy” poppy. COURTESY PHOTO
