Vols help spruce up Auburn mobile home park

More than 40 students joined teachers, parents and volunteers to clean up yards of residents at The River, a 317-unit mobile home community for 55-and-older residents in north Auburn.

It was all part of the Seventh-day Adventist School Community Volunteer Day on April 23.

In all, 120 volunteers helped beautify 13 lots.

“They took part to clean up yards of residents who are physically unable (to do the work),” said Dawn Costello, who co-manages The River. “The amount of work that was done was wonderful. However, the sense of pride this has given my residents now in their yards and community is immeasurable. Even Mayor (Nancy) Backus and Tami Kapule from Auburn Code Enforcement were ‘ in the trenches’ with us, pulling weeds.”
