After a six-month comprehensive evaluation and review process, the Valley Regional Fire Authority Governance Board authorized the purchase of a Rosenbauer Metz 105’ Raptor ladder truck to serve the community.

Voters approved the purchase as part of the capital funding projects measure passed last February.

VRFA Administrator Eric Robertson recently signed a contract with General Fire Apparatus, the national dealer for Rosenbauer/Metz fire apparatus.

The construction of the ladder truck will take a little over a year. During the period, VRFA personnel will receive specialized training on advanced ladder truck operations. The VRFA expects the ladder truck to be in-service sometime in the fourth quarter of 2009.

“Specific challenges in our community, including roadway weight limitations, current and planned vertical growth, limited access areas and other operational limitations presented a need for a ladder truck capable of many unique functions,” Robertson said.
