A sampling of calls May 4-10

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 244 calls for service from May 4-10, among them the following:

May 4

Aid call: (Algona) 1:51 p.m. Firefighters responded to a woman with stroke-like symptoms. The patient was evaluated on scene and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by private ambulance.

May 5

Aid call: (Pacific) 9:46 a.m. Firefighters responded to an elderly man who was suffering from hypoglycemia. Firefighters assisted the patient in raising his blood sugar to a normal level and the patient was left at home in the care of his family.

May 6

Vehicle collision: (Lea Hill) 2:54 p.m. Firefighters responded to a two-car collision. One of the vehicles crashed into a concrete structure after the collision. Two patients were transported with minor injuries.

May 8

Vehicle collision: (North Auburn) 1:12 a.m. Firefighters and King County Medic One responded to a two vehicle, head-on, heavy-mechanism crash on Highway 167. Firefighters found two patients, one was fatally injured and one had neck and back injuries. Medic 6 transported one patient to Valley Medical Center. Firefighters remained on scene to assist Washington State Patrol with their investigation.

Aid call: (Pacific) 10:30 p.m. Firefighters and King County paramedics responded to a male who has sustained a gunshot wound. He was evaluated, and then transported to Harborview Medical Center by paramedics.

May 9

Structure fire: (Auburn) 10:26 a.m. Firefighters responded to a barn fire with Mt. View Fire. VRFA crews were second on scene and took command of the event. The structure was a small, shed-sized barn.

May 10

Aid call: (Auburn) 5:57 p.m. Firefighters assisted an elderly man with a hand laceration. The patient was assessed, wounds bandaged and he was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center via private ambulance.
