VRFA fire and rescue blotter | July 7

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 245 calls for service between June 26 and July 2, among them the following:

June 26

Aid call: 8:23 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters were called to help a man complaining of abdominal pain. Firefighters treated the patient, and a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

June 27

Aid call: 2:57 p.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to an elderly man who had fallen evaluated and found him to have a small laceration to the back of his head. The patient was taken to a local clinic for further evaluation.

June 28

Motor vehicle accident: 9:11 a.m. (north Auburn). Firefighters were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident into a building. The driver of the car, an adult female, was uninjured. The damage to the building did not appear to affect the structural integrity of the building. The City of Auburn building inspectors were called to ensure the damage was not structural. The scene was turned over to Auburn Police to investigate.

June 29

Stove fire: 9:34 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a duplex fire at the 800 block of 21st Street Southeast found light smoke coming from a single unit, the result of food left cooking on the stove. There was no fire damage and minimal smoke damage to the unit. The residents were not home at the time of the incident. There were no working smoke detectors.

June 30

Rescue: 3:51 p.m. (south Auburn). Firefighters with King County Medics and Auburn Police responded to a middle-aged woman who had serious injuries trying to avoid a train while walking on a bridge trestle. The train hit her bike and bumped her off the tracks onto a 4-foot wide ledge over the river. Firefighters rescued the woman and medics treated the woman at the scene. A helicopter transported the patient to Harborview Medical Center.

July 1

Aid call: 8:30 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters were dispatched to an infant girl having seizures. VRFA personnel arrived and called for King County Medics to help with treatment. King County Medics then transported the girl to Swedish Medical Center for further care.

July 2

Aid call: 9:52 a.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics helped a middle-aged woman complaining of an allergic reaction. A private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
