VRFA fire and rescue blotter | Sept. 8

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 280 calls for service between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3, among them the following;

Aug. 28

Aid call: 6:53 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters evaluated a woman who was suffering from multiple seizures, and a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Aug. 29

Brush fire: 1:36 p.m.,(South Auburn). Firefighters responded to a 75-by-100-foot brush fire in the heavy trees behind the FFA center. Two engine companies got in, deployed 350 feet of hose and extinguished the fire.

Aug. 30

Aid call: 6:36 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated a teenage boy who had fallen while skateboarding, and his parents zipped him off to MAMC for further evaluation and treatment.

Aug. 31

Aid call: 6:26 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters treated a man who was complaining of an uncontrollable nose bleed, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC for further evaluation.

Sept. 1

Aid call: 3:51 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated an Auburn senior citizen who was complaining of cardiac symptoms, and firefighters transported her to MAMC.

Sept. 2

Haz-mat: 10:31 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the smell of natural gas in a home found a small leak at the meter outside but no danger inside the home. Firefighters shut off the gas, called PSE to the house and let the occupants go back inside.

Sept. 3

Illegal burning: 5:19 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a report of black smoke in the woods near Highway 18 arrived to find a resident trying to extinguish a fast-growing rubbish fire with two garden hoses. Firefighters extinguished the fire and schooled the resident, who had been burning construction debris from a building he had demolished, in burning laws.
