VRFA invites public to fire station dedication, open house

The Valley Regional Fire Authority will host a public dedication and open house of Fire Station 33 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority will host a public dedication and open house of Fire Station 33 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday.

The community is invited to a day of family fun at the VRFA’s newest fire station located at 500 182nd Ave. E., Auburn.

Refreshments, door prizes, equipment and safety displays and entertainment by the Auburn Riverside High School Band will be provided. Children can try on firefighter gear, make their own fire trucks, tour a fire engine and aid car, and meet Sparky the Fire Dog and “Pluggie” the fire hydrant robot.

Other activities include demonstrations of a thermal imaging camera, tours of the facility and home and holiday safety information.

A dedication ceremony will take place at

11 a.m., including a presentation of the colors by the VRFA Honor Guard and dedication of the facility by the VRFA Governance Board.

VRFA Firefighters will also be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the annual Toys for Kids drive.

Voters approved the funding for the construction of Fire Station 33 as part of a capital funding measure passed in February of 2008.

The addition of the facility will bring the number of fire stations in the VRFA service area to five including North Auburn Station 31 at 1101 D St. NE, South Auburn Station 32 at 1951 R St. SE, Lea Hill Station 34 at 31204 124th Ave. and Pacific Station 38 at 133 3rd Ave. SE.
