Douglas Carr | Obituary

Doug was born on May 15, 1934 and passed away on July 29, 2023. He grew up in Everett, WA, and upon graduation from Everett High School he joined the Coast Guard where he served four years in Guam and Alaska. After discharge he attended Western Washington University where he met his wife, Susan Smith. They were married in 1958 and settled in Auburn, WA.

Doug began his teaching career at Olympic Junior High School in Auburn, and transferred to Green River Community College when it opened in the early 1960’s where he coached wrestling and taught until he retired.

Doug was an amazing husband, father, and friend to many. He will be remembered for his love of family, hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking, and enjoying a good glass of wine.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, daughter Tammy Larsen, sons Todd (Becky), and Chris (Marla), grandsons Jordan Carr (Christine), and Taylor Carr, and granddaughters Caitlin Doherty (Pat), and Aly Lacey (JJ). He welcomed his first two great-granddaughters this year, Collins and Emily.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on August 11th, at St. George Episcopal Church, 24219 Witte Road SE, Maple Valley, WA.
