Gary Winton Masterjohn
Gary Winton Masterjohn, 69, passed away on September 10, 2009, in Auburn, WA after a brief illness. He was born September 29, 1939, to Eugene and Francis Masterjohn in Monroe, WA. Gary was raised in Monroe and graduated from Tolt High School in Duvall in 1957. As a young man, he was an accomplished amateur boxer and enjoyed hunting and trapping.He met his sweetheart, Sandra Sisson, in Seattle and she soon became his wife. Together for nearly 52 years, they raised four sons in Renton and Kent. Gary was a man of many talents; operating a gas station in Renton, was a real estate agent and mortgage broker for decades, then finishing his career in the banking industry. Gary was the branch manager at Timberland Bank in Auburn, where he retired in 2005. He was very active in the Auburn Noon Lions Club where he was a longtime member of their Board of Directors. He also volunteered at the Auburn Food Bank, Miss Auburn Scholarship Program, Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce, the City’s Human Services Committee and the YMCA Finance Board. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of Auburn; his sons, Anthony “Tony” (Pamela) of Tumwater, Nicholas “Nick” (Sharon) of Auburn, Michael (Denise) of Elko, Nevada, Ricardo “Rico” (Victoria) of Pacific; father Eugene “John” (Ruth) of Monroe; brothers David of California, John (Karen) of Seattle; sisters Kay (Ken) Perman of Auburn, Kande (Jim) Mellon of Monroe; ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his mother, a grandson and great-grandson.A Celebration of Gary’s Life was held on Monday, September 14th at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a gathering of family and friends at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to the charities of the Auburn Noon Lions, P.O.
