Kathryn Maria (Wehmer) Zahradnek

Kathryn Maria (Wehmer) Zahradnek passed away on October 17, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Fife, WA. Born to Edith and Leon Wehmer on May 3, 1942, she lived in Auburn, WA for most of her life. She graduated from Auburn Senior High School in 1960 and married Lewis Zahradnek in 1961. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Edith Wehmer, and her brother, Lawrence (Larry) Wehmer. She is survived by her husband, Lewis, her children, Natalie (Marty) Smith, Doug (DeeDee) Zahradnek, and Jenny Zahradnek; her grandchildren, Laura (Mike) Shore, Mandy Zahradnek, and Matthew (Kayla) Smith; and her great-granddaughter, Makenna Shore, and another great-grandchild due shortly; her sister Janon Summers, and her brother Neal (Sue) Wehmer and many nieces and nephews. Kathy participated in several local clubs and organizations, including the Red Hat Society, Auburn Good Ol’ Days, and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. She was also an active member of the Auburn YMCA and her church. A memorial will be held at the First United Methodist Church (100 N St SE, Auburn, WA 98002) at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 30th. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in lieu of flowers. Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed.
