Les Stehr

Les Stehr, 78, passed away peacefully, January 11, 2021 at Harborview Medical Center after experiencing a stroke. Les was born in Odessa, Washington on May 14, 1933 to his parents Fred and Helen Stehr. He is survived by his daughter Laurie Krone (Dave), grandchildren Tanner and Bradey, brother Tom Stehr (Julie), sister Peggy Burk (Arch), along with many step children, step grand-children, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ron Stehr. Les was the oldest of four. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Odessa High School. He went on to Washington State University where he earned his degree in Hotel Restaurant Administration. Les entered the Air Force in 1955 where he went on to become an aircraft commander on the then new C-123 aircraft. Before leaving the Air Force, Les received a position as Club Officer where he substantially increased the profitability of the Officer’s Club.Les left the Air Force in April of 1960 and soon found himself managing the Elks Club in Auburn. During his tenure at the Elks he was able to bring in national billings including The Lennon Sisters and Bob Newhart, in what was his first ever private club appearance.In 1974 Les bought into the Lee Restaurant in Enumclaw as a minority owner. Les eventually bought out the remaining ownership stake and did not sell until March of 2011. Between March of 2011 and last week he had been running the books for his stepdaughter who is the new owner.In addition to his working career, Les was an avid golfer and a long time horse owner and consequently a member of many active social circles.Services will be held at Emerald Downs on January 21 at 6:30PM.
