MARY IRENE BRADFORD JATON

Mary Irene Bradford Jaton departed this world peacefully on June 28, 2018. She was 94 years old.

She was born March 4, 1924 in Pocatello, Idaho to Paul and Mabel Bradford.

Mary moved to Washington with her family when she was three years old and settled in the Lake Tapps area, moving to Auburn in 1936, where she resided until her death. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1942.

Even though she grew up during the time of The Great Stock Market Crash of 1924, The Great Depression in the 1930’s, and World War II, her memories were not all of doom and gloom. She was always an optimist, looking on the bright side of things and never taking anything for granted.

Mary was a very independent person, which served her well, as her husband Laton (Tom) Arnold Jaton passed away unexpectedly in 1978 at the age of 57, after 26 years of marriage. The following year she went to work at The Boeing Company, retiring in August 1986, which opened up her world to traveling and many different hobbies, which she enjoyed immensely.

Music was very important in her life, and after graduating from High School, she enjoyed singing in a band entertaining at local dance clubs, until her bandmates were drafted at the onset of World War II. She loved the Opera and Ballet, and enjoyed attending many performances in Seattle.

Some of her hobbies included oil and acrylic painting, ceramics, embroidery, and crafts of any kind. Her art will be treasured for years to come by her family.

She loved history and enjoyed her genealogy research creating Bradford and Jaton family history albums which will be enjoyed for generations.

She enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends from Auburn Golf Course and the years she was involved with The Angels Track Club with her daughter Janene, making many lasting friendships along the way. Mary loved Mount Rainier and was always amazed by its splendor. She loved pearls, flowers, birds, kittens, hummingbirds, nature and was a fan of the Mariners.

After her retirement, she enjoyed going on a cruise, traveling to Hawaii, Europe, Cabo San Lucas, Cannon Beach, Nashville and The Grand Ole Opry.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Laton Jaton, parents Paul and Mabel Bradford, brothers Harold and Ken Bradford and sister-in-law Lois Bradford.

She is survived by daughter Janene (John) Maryanski, sister Betty (Max) Krieter, sister-in-law Wanda Bradford, grandchildren Tara (Kraig) Kaelin, Megan Maryanski, Justin (Amanda) Maryanski, five great-grandchildren, a neice and nephews in which her faith and determination will live on forever.

A Celebration of Life was held on July 28, 2018.
