He passed calmly surrounded by his loved ones and will be deeply missed. Richard left a lasting impression on those who were fortunate to have known him.

Richard was born July 6, 1926 at Snoqualmie Falls Hospital in Snoqualmie Falls, WA. He spent his entire childhood there until he graduated from Snoqualmie High School in 1944, the last graduating class of Snoqualmie High School.

In 1948, Richard enlisted in the US Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne, Medical Company 325 until 1953. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his time in the service, he also represented his unit in the athletic squads, including Boxing, Football and Track. His passion for sports continued throughout his life, including coaching a State Championship Babe Ruth baseball team.

After the Army, Richard settled in Auburn, WA, where he married Loretta M. Lucas, also of Auburn, in 1954. He ran his own construction business in the valley for many years. In 1977, he retired and moved to Omak, WA, where he ran and operated his own sporting goods store and later worked for the City of Omak as a Program Manager. He returned to the Auburn area in 1991, where he remained until his death.

In addition, Richard was a city councilman in Algona, and realized numerous other accomplishments. He loved to hunt, fish and watch his children and grandchildren compete in sports. His proudest accomplishment was his large family.
