ROBERT S. PHILLIPS

Bob passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2017. Age and disease robbed his body, but couldn’t steal his spirit. Born in 1932 to Russell and Donelda, that spirit sent him on many adventures, always gathering lifelong friends along the way.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force between 1951 – 55, and married the love of his life, Janet (Rice) in 1955. They soon started a family while he settled into a law enforcement career. First to KC Sheriff Reserves, then retiring from Auburn Police Department after 20 years. Next it was working security for Federal Way Schools, and finally to Tacoma Police as a civilian.

He had a huge heart and cared about people. As a younger man, he advised the Gearlord Car Club, and Auburn Police Explorer Scouts. In later years he was a neighborhood helper and donated countless hours to charities.

Other favorite past times were fishing, hiking, motorcycling on “Old Blue” CB radio, and spending time with his family. In retirement, it was also snowbirding in AZ, and casino outings.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Janet, sister Lorraine Stiers, step-brother Jim Peterson (Pat) of Chicago, children Scott, Chris (Mary Rooney), Doni (Bobette Stover), Teri Palmer, 6 grandkids and 8 great grandkids.

Celebration of Life to be held January 21, 2018 – 12 to 3 PM. Auburn Community & Events Center – 910 9th St SE, Auburn 98002.
