Roxanne Dawn Coffey (Shephard)

Roxanne Dawn Coffey (Shephard) was born on November 20, 1945 in Oregon to Maxine and Donald Shephard. Roxy passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with breast cancer on August 30, 2016.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter Reagan Coffey (Michael Kuneman), son Rian Coffey (Chandra Coffey), grandson Chase Coffey, brother Larry Shephard (Barbara Shephard), sister Gail Hawkins, sister Michelle Shephard (Bill Shephard) and brother John Shephard.

As a young adult, Roxy met her late husband Larry Coffey on a blind date; they married a couple of years later on July 10, 1966 in Auburn, WA.

Roxy attended Walla Walla College where she met lifelong friends with and would travel together yearly to stay in touch. Family was very important to Roxy and she invested the majority of her time with her children.

While Rian and Reagan were in school, Roxy held the President position in their school’s PTA at Washington Elementary, this helped enable Roxy to remain a constant figure in her children’s lives as they went through their school age years. During Roxy’s involvement in the PTA she met a group of other mothers that became lifelong friends, the mothers and daughters were fondly referred to as the Ya-Ya Sisters. The

Ya-Ya’s made a point to remain in each other’s lives, sharing the joys of each person’s accomplishments as the years went by.

Roxy was always very close with her parents and siblings as well. After her mother’s passing, she would have weekly visits with her father to enjoy a relaxing lunch and good company. Roxy was the most kind-hearted, genuine human being that a person could ever meet. To know her was to love her because of the ever caring warmth that poured from her soul. Her laugh was infectious and her love for people was to be admired. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and will forever remain in our hearts and memories.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 24th at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave, Sumner 98390.
