The Lions finished seven points behind first-place Peninsula, with 66 points.

Auburn Mountainview was paced by Matt Link who took home sixth place with a 17-minute run, followed by teammate Seth Rumbaugh in eighth place with a 17:02.4 run. Derrick Hirschi was 12th with a 17:41.6 finish.

ALSO: Auburn Riverside’s Julian-Blake Cowan ran by the competition at the South Puget Sound League 4A championship this past week at Fort Steilacoom Park. Cowan finished the 3.1-mile course with a time of 15:44.3, beating the next finisher, teammate Kenny Krotzer, by more than 20 seconds. As a team, the Ravens finished second to Tahoma, with 83 points to the Bears’ 55. In addition to Cowan and Krotzer’s 16:00.2 second-place effort, Raven Jeff Miles also qualified for the district tourney with his 13th-place time of 16:49.1.

kicks off postseason

The Auburn Mountainview volleyball team will get its first taste of the postseason at 9 p.m. today with a match against Foster (6-10 overall) at Auburn Mountainview in the South Puget Sound League 3A/Seamount League sub-district tournament.

The Lions finished the season with a 6-2 league record and third place in the SPSL 3A behind first-place Sumner and Bonney Lake. Auburn Mountainview is 12-2 overall for the season.

ALSO: The Auburn Riverside (5-3-0 league, 6-5-0 overall) volleyball team finished up its regular season with a 3-0 victory over district rival Auburn this past Monday at Auburn (2-6-0 league, 2-10-0 overall). The Ravens won by scores of 27-25, 25-21, 25-20. Brooke Bay led Auburn Riverside with 23 kills, 15 digs and four blocks. Candice Buchanan had three aces and Jane Han added 18 digs. Kellie Zulauf contributed 15 digs. For Auburn, Sierra Atkinson had 25 assists and Michelle Ernsdorff chipped in with seven kills and 10 digs. Skyler Atkinson had six kills and 16 digs. Isia Johnson chimed in with nine kills. The Ravens earned the No. 4 seed out of the SPSL North and will play SPSL No. 4 seed Curtis at 1 p.m. today at Kentwood High School.
