Auburn boys take season opener, Ravens come up short in Les Schwab Tipoff Classic

Sidney White scored 16 points and Darrel Hester added 12, leading Auburn past White River 76-39 in the Les Schwab Tipoff Classic at Auburn Riverside High School on Saturday.

The Trojans (1-0) overcame a slow start to pull away from the Hornets (0-3).

In other games in the all-day tournament, the host Ravens lost to Rogers of Puyallup 66-61.

Dan Remirez scored 14 points and Jaden Robinson had 11 for Auburn Riverside (0-3). James Baker poured in a game-high 30 points for the Rams (3-0).

In girls play, Puyallup (1-2) edged Auburn Riverside 41-39.

Brooke Dye led the Ravens (0-2) with 12 points, six steals and five rebounds. Stephanie Igwala and Carol Chikusa each had eight. Igwala grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
