Auburn grapplers power by Auburn Riverside 65-12 | Prep wrestling

Auburn beat district-rival Auburn Riverside in dual wrestling action this past Wednesday, 65-12. The Trojans earned wins from 120-pound Drew Aplin, who beat Raven Evan Polkow with a pin at the 4-minute, 49-second mark, and from 126-pound Balteer Rana, who pinned Noah Afeto at 4:43.

The Trojans earned wins from 120-pound Drew Aplin, who beat Raven Evan Polkow with a pin at the 4-minute, 49-second mark, and from 126-pound Balteer Rana, who pinned Noah Afeto at 4:43.

Auburn’s Jamison Glenn defeated Landon Stockton with a 6-2 decision at 132 pounds, and the Trojans’ Sjon Snitily pinned Auburn Riverside’s Tyler Kunz at 5:43 in the 138-pounds match.

Michael Yadon pinned Raven Kenny Miller at the 5:13 mark at 145 pounds, and Auburn’s 152-pound Noah McCabe was victorious by fall over Nathaniel Middleton at 4:49.

In the 160-pound match, the Trojans’ Cole Washburn beat Jose Juarez by pin at 3:03, and Auburn’s Bailey Minnar earned a 16-1 technical fall over Sam Onishenko in the 170-pound match.

Sam Lindsay, Auburn’s senior state qualifier last season, won his 182-pound match by forfeit, and teammate Kyle Gutherie pinned Diego Cabanas at 5:14.

In the heavyweight bouts, the Trojans’ Mario Luevano defeated Gerardo Cisneros 5-0, and Auburn’s Jacob Apodaca pinned Raven Joel Lopez at 3:22.

Auburn Riverside’s points came by forfeit in the lightweight classes, David Scherry capturing a win at 106 and Colin Matson at 113.

The two teams, along with Auburn Mountainview, return to action after the holidays with the All-South Puget Sound League tourney Jan. 2-3 at Auburn High School.
