Auburn Mountainview cheer wins 11th title

Lions traveled down to Battle Ground and won their category by 15 points.

Auburn Mountainview cheer added another state title to its trophy case, one of the more decorated in the area.

State competition was Feb. 1-3 down south at Battle Ground High School where the Lions took home first place in 3A Game Day Medium, beating the second place finisher Southridge by 15 points.

Head Coach Shana Biggs made this statement following their win:

“I am extremely proud of this team. I also want to comment on the fact this team would not accomplish or be what they are without the coaching staff of Kaitlyn Hanley and Caitlin Barba, both of which are former cheerleaders of Auburn Mountainview High School. I myself am a graduate of Decatur High School.

This team is made of committed and dedicated athletes that pour their heart and soul into the program. The sacrifices they have made to attend every practice, attend competitions and practice on their own does not go unnoticed by the coaches. They are leaders in our school and community. Their team motto is ‘do it for the person next to you.’

Their goal is to perform an outstanding and memorable routine. This is what they did on Saturday at State and we hope to do this again this upcoming weekend at UCA Nationals in Orlando, FL at ESPN, the Super Bowl of cheerleading.

This is our 11th state cheerleading title for AMHS cheer.

The team consists of the following athletes: Riley Swanson, Brooke Ketchum, Halle Sudweeks, Evelyn Eckardt, Priya Rios, Magee Alfrey, Dallis White, Kaycee Pugsley, Evelyn Hernandez, Juliette Nunez-Miramontes, Tierney Lim, Taylor Wilson, Kayden Kaleta, Piper Fort, Sofia Topete, and Mahek Aulak.
