Auburn High School’s Gabe Sena, wrestling, is the Auburn Reporter’s Male Athlete of the Week.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: History with Smetz.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: Volleyball and watching movies.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: Coach Matt Hoover.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: Take 10 minutes to myself before each match.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: ““Feeling Good” by Gorillaz.

From the Sideline

“On Feb. 2, Gabe Sena won the North Puget Sound League title at 132 pounds. Despite wrestling with an injured knee that could have ended his season, Gabe pushed through and dominated his weight. He is a captain of the wrestling team and a returning state wrestling tournament qualifier. His win last weekend puts him in a great position to make a return trip to the Tacoma Dome. Gabe has faced many obstacles this season, but he has fought through them to have a solid season in which he has only suffered 3 losses.”

A: Math.

A: Hanging out with my friends.

A: My parents.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: I like to listen to music before my games.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: Any song that pumps me up for the game.

“Jaya Harshman helped lead the Trojans basketball team to wins in the NPSL Olympic Division third-place tiebreaker game against Enumclaw, and in the NPSL fifth-sixth-place game vs. Hazen.

In those two playoff wins, Jaya averaged 14.5 points per game and led the Trojans in scoring in both games.”
