Auburn senior Danny Shelton has been selected to the Associated Press’ all-state high school football squad for his play on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Shelton is being courted by several universities. Of his nine Division I scholarship offers, seven have come from Pacific-10 Conference programs – co-favorites Washington and Oregon, Washington State, Oregon State, California, UCLA and Stanford.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Shelton reportedly has narrowed his choices to either Washington or Oregon. He is expected to make an announcement after he plays in the Dec. 31 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Other local selections to the AP all-state team were Kent-Meridian’s David Jones, Kentlake’s Austin Pernell and Kentwood’s Dalton Blackmore.

Skyline wide receiver Kasen Williams was named the AP Player of the Year.
