Filly Private Dreams is likely favorite in Emerald Downs Legislators Stakes

A total of 15 older fillies and mares have been nominated for Sunday’s $50,000 Washington State Legislators Stakes at Emerald Downs. The speedy Jerry Hollendorfer-trained filly Private Dreams is likely to be the betting favorite in the 6 ½-furlong event. The 4-year-old Johannesburg filly beat many of these same horses in the May 18 Hastings Park Handicap at Emerald. She sprinted to the early lead and never looked back, powering home by 5 ¾ lengths while establishing a stakes record of 1:08 3/5 for 6 furlongs.

Private Dreams already has won at four tracks – Emerald Downs, Hollywood Park, Bay Meadows and Club Hippico in Chile – and is unbeaten in three main track sprints.

Shampoo, a quadruple stakes winner in 2007, will try to bounce back from a dull sixth-place run in the Hastings Park.

Other nominees include Northern California-based Victorina, a multiple stakes winner, and She’s All Silk, the gate-to-wire winner of the 2007 Washington State Legislators Stakes.
