Christian Rotter, an Auburn Mountainview graduate and a key member of the Western Washington University men’s soccer team, earned a Dub Dub Blue Award for outstanding athletic and academic achievement at the Bellingham school.

Rotter, a sophomore forward for the Vikings, carried a 3.86 GPA as a business administration major. On the pitch, he started all 17 games in 2017, scoring two goals and tying for the team lead with three assists.

Rotter was one of six student athletes to earn the Scholar Athlete of the Year Award.

The WWU Department of Athletics celebrated top athletes at its annual on-campus Dub Dub Blue Awards Ceremony and BBQ on Thursday afternoon. The university celebrated a banner athletic and academic season that featured nine teams representing the NCAA Division II Championships, 75 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic awards, 55 All-GNAC honorees and nine All-Americans.
