Backus has shown the way

Auburn has been very fortunate to have Nancy Backus as our mayor these past four years. Her leadership in tackling the tough issues of our community and our region has been outstanding.

In the 22 years that we have lived in Auburn, we have seen our community change. We have growing issues around homelessness, drug abuse, and mental illness. Nancy has been willing to step up and tackle these issues head on – not by thinking that the city could address them alone. But instead by gathering community leaders, business owners and managers, nonprofit organizations, police and fire, the school district, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and others to tackle these issues together.

With Nancy’s leadership, work is being done to help those in crisis through new resources and partnerships that get at the root of the problem.

Furthermore, Nancy has really helped improve the sense of community throughout Auburn. The summer picnics throughout town where she and other city leaders are present to talk with residents and understand what is happening in the area have brought neighborhoods together.

We are very proud to call Nancy our mayor and look forward to re-electing her for four more years in August and again in November. Please join us in supporting Nancy Backus for mayor.
