Wales gets my vote

Regarding Mr. Reidel’s letter: He does not mention that the entire City Council was involved in drafting a resolution, with legal counsel, that speaks in sympathetic terms to the plight of illegal immigrants in Auburn. The council approved it by majority.

I have attended many council sessions when the topic of sanctuary city was discussed at length, and I heard many people testify in favor of sanctuary status for Auburn. At no time did I get the impression that Largo Wales wanted to roll out the welcome mat to criminals entering this country illegally.

Ms. Wales has, on the other hand, made it clear to me and her other supporters that she is a no-nonsense public official who wants accountability from the City Council, the mayor’s office and city employees.

That she is tough and outspoken may not make her popular with some, but she certainly has my vote.
