MILDRED (CUPIE) LOFFER

Mildred (Cupie) Loffer, age 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away on Monday February 4, 2019 at Auburn Hospital surrounded by family.

Cupie was born to Mildred and Austin Riddell in Butte Montana, the oldest of two children, with sister Edna (Boots) following 2 years later. When she was a small child, her grandfather nicknamed her Cupie, after the popular “Kewpie” doll of that time. The nickname stuck and was much preferred by her than her given name of Mildred. The family moved to Eastern Washington and later relocated to Auburn, where she graduated from Auburn High School in 1945, firmly planting her roots in the Auburn Valley for the remainder of her years.

Cupie married Darrell Loffer upon his return from serving in the Navy in WWII in 1947. They were blessed with 67 years together, traveling extensively, but her favorite port of call was always the family cabin.

Cupie is survived by daughter, Darelee Phillips; son Mark (Pat) Loffer; Grandchildren, Darren (Tammie) Avise, Chad (Heather) Avise, Chantelle (Frank) Olsen; great-grandchildren, Sidney, Hallie, Porter, Brady, Kelan and Connor; great-great-grandchild, Mark.

Our lives are forever richer for having this fun, spunky, loving woman as our matriarch. In lieu of flowers, the family asks remembrances be made to Sight Connections for the Blind and Partially Sighted at www.sightconnection.org/donate.
