Auburn Mountainview bounced from district baseball playoffs

Kyle VanHout tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout as Sumner ousted Auburn Mountainview 6-0 from the district baseball playoffs at Heritage Park in Puyallup on Wednesday night.

VanHout struck out eight and allowed only one walk.

Grant Sherrod drove in two runs for Sumner.

Alex McBee and Shane Buchanan each pitched three innings, combining on a five-hitter for the Lions (14-8).

Hayden Byorick doubled in the first inning for the Lions. McBee, Tyler Burton and Michael Kramer each managed a hit.

Elsewhere

Auburn Riverside met elimination in the district playoffs with a 9-3 loss to Battle Ground on Wednesday at Heritage Park.

Cade Stober went 2-for-3, with a double and three RBI for the Ravens (14-9).
