Auburn Mountainview’s Flores chosen as a WIAA/Wendy’s Athlete of the Week winner

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association selected Auburn Mountainview’s Taylor Flores as a WIAA/Wendy’s Athlete of the Week winner for Week 19 (Jan. 13-19) on Wednesday.

Flores, a 5-foot-6 senior guard, dropped 32 points (seven triples) and grabbed four rebounds against Auburn. She also registered 21 (Fife), 20 (Decatur), 26 (Auburn Riverside), and 29 (Lakes) points in the other games.

Flores has now surpassed the school’s all-time scoring record for both boys and girls.

Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes varsity athletes who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week (based off of nominations). All varsity level students in good academic standing at their schools are eligible to receive the WIAA/Wendy’s Athlete of the Week Award. Students may win the award once during any given academic year.

Nominations are open to athletic administrators, coaches, fans and members of the media, with a weekly deadline of noon Tuesday.
