The Tacoma Stars have announced the re-signing of a Northwest favorite in midfielder Lamar Neagle.

Per team and league policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Neagle, a Tacoma native returns to the Kent-based team after appearing in six games for the Stars last season.

Prior to joining the Stars, Neagle appeared in 130 games for the Seattle Sounders FC and sits fourth all-time in goals scored for the MLS club. In addition, he is in the top 10 all-time in assists for the Sounders FC.

Neagle began his mark on Northwest soccer with Thomas Jefferson High School where he helped the Raiders capture the 4A state title with a 16-2-4 record. En route to the team’s championship, Neagle broke a 31-year-old school record by netting six goals in one game.

His track record of excellence and what he brings to the Stars is not lost on team owner Lane Smith.

“Bringing Lamar back was a huge priority to the team. He’s a consummate professional with incredible pedigree. His effort and attitude are infectious, and we are extremely excited he’s coming back,” Smith said.

Coach Nick Perera added: “Lamar came in last season and immediately showed why he has had such an illustrious career. He works tremendously hard at his craft, and his quality shines through immediately. Beyond his talent, he’s humble and exemplifies the type of person we want in the locker room.”

The Stars have announced their 2019-2020 season schedule. They open the season against San Diego at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at the accesso ShoWare Center.
