Ravens’ Heilborn, Maracich grab bronze in 4A state tennis play

Auburn Riverside’s Calley Heilborn and Anna Maracich captured third place at the 4A state tennis championships in Yakima last Saturday.

Heilborn and Maracich defeated Kennedy Catholic’s Lily Olson and Lauren Jergens 6-1, 6-4 for the bronze.

The Ravens’ tandem opened state play with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Mead’s Emma Koehler and Sophie Koehler, then dispatched Thomas Jefferson’s Mia Rosa and Ally Peterson 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to reach the semifinals.

Skyline’s Dora Varsa and Reanne Lee downed Heilborn and Maracich 6-1, 6-1 to reach and eventually win the state title.
