Pet of the Month: Bentley

Bentley was born on Oct. 11, 2005, in Surrey, B.C. Canada, an Oriana Golden Retriever. He was bred to be a beautiful show dog but imperfections prevented this. He was then sold to a couple in New Mexico.

Within a year, Bentley had to be repossessed. Because of his size, strength and will power, they could not train or manage him and he was returned to Canada.

For another nine months, he was on the market for new parents. In spite of his very mischievous and sometimes devilish personality, my husband and I couldn’t resist this challenge.

Bentley has been with us since December 2007. His untamed behavior actually has brought us the biggest laughs and joy. He is absolutely crazy about water to the point of chasing hoses, sprinklers and trying to jump into hot tubs. He is equally obsessed with balls and loves to play hide-and-seek. He is bold and brassy and often is a bully to his much older sister, Casey. But when we all settle down to sleep at night, Bentley is quick to snuggle-up and give us goodnight kisses and hugs.

We adore him.
