The Auburn Symphony Orchestra, under the guidance of internationally renowned conductor Stewart Kershaw, will open its new season with the sounds of Beethoven, Chausson and Stravinsky.

“From Vienna to Paris” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, located at 700 E. Main Street.

The orchestra will take audiences from hilltop chapels in the Austrian Alps to hypnotic strolls along the Champs Élysées. A royal wedding, thanks to the firebirds spell, is a triumphal conclusion highlighting three of the greatest composers. New ASO concertmaster, Brittany Boulding, will debut in her first appearance as soloist with the orchestra.

Prior to the performance, an extended pre-concert lecture will be held in the theatre where Kershaw and KUOW host Dave Beck will focus on the story behind the composers and their music. The free pre-concert lecture will begin at 6:45 p.m. for the Oct. 9 performance and 1:45 p.m for the Oct. 10 concert.
