Auburn Mountainview beats Shelton, advances to 3A district quarterfinals | Boys basketball

Auburn Mountainview defeated Shelton 61-38 in the opening round of the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 boys basketball tournament Thursday.
The Lions (18-3) face Wilson (17-4) in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Rogers High School in Puyallup.
The winner advances to a 7:45 p.m. Tuesday semifinal at Rogers against the winner of the Foss (18-3) vs. Kennedy Catholic (19-2) quarterfinal. The loser heads to the consolation bracket against either Mount Tahoma (5-17) or Hazen (15-6) at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Rogers.
Auburn Mountainview coasted to a 36-24 lead at intermission and held the Highclimbers to 14 second-half points.
Junior Ryan Lacey led the Lions with a game-high 16. Ki’Jan Weisinger added 13 and Robbie Wilson finished with 10.
Tyler Speaks led Shelton with eight points.
