The Auburn Riverside girls stayed alive in the winner’s bracket on Wednesday, defeating Mount Tahoma 55-41 in West Central District 3 tournament action.

The Ravens (18-3) clamped down on the Thunderbirds (8-13) in the first half, posting a 30-17 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Auburn Riverside allowed Mount Tahoma just six points, while scoring 13 to put the score at 43-23 going into the final frame.

The Thunderbirds scored 18 points in the fourth quarter but were unable to catch the Ravens, losing 55-41.

McKenzi Williams led the way for Auburn Riverside with a game-high 18 points.

Ayanna Ford and Faith Turner added 10 points apiece for the Ravens.

Dannette Brown led Mount Tahoma with 11 points.

Auburn Riverside plays No. 7 ranked Wilson (17-4) at 6 p.m. Friday at Rogers High School in Puyallup. The winner advances to the semifinals against either Prairie (16-5) or Lakes (12-9) at 6 p.m. next Wednesday at Rogers.

A loss relegates the team to the consolation bracket and a game against either Kelso (15-7) or Capital (4-17), 6:30 p.m. Monday at Franklin Pierce High School.
