Auburn’s Maya Jackson repeated as the state 1A 400-meter champion this past Saturday at Eastern Washington University.
Jackson, an Auburn native who attends Northwest School in Seattle, won in 57.37 seconds, the 14th fastest time for all-girl classifications in the state.
In addition to her 400 title, Jackson was fourth in the 200 (26.14) and eighth in the 100 (13.16), leading Northwest to a second-place team finish.
Prior to state, Jackson won three league finals in the 100, 200 and 400, bringing her career total to nine league titles.
She also won a district title in the 200, seized her third 400 title and finished second in the 100.
Jackson will continue to compete this summer and join the Auburn Elite Track Club under coach Kevin Jackson for the University of Washington’s indoor winter season.
Also running for the Auburn Elite will be Auburn Riverside’s state-medal sprinter Aulane Mpouli.
