Lions come up short to Panthers | SPSL soccer

Kelsey Lund scored in the 71st minute, her fifth goal on the young season, as visiting Bonney Lake turned back Auburn Mountainview 1-0 in a South Puget Sound League 3A girls soccer game Friday.

The Panthers improved to 2-0 in league, 3-0 overall. The Lions dropped to 0-2, 0-4.

Auburn Mountainview had several scoring chances in the first half but couldn’t find the net.

Holly Hytrek, a 6-foot junior goalie, played well, making key stops.

“Tonight we just did not play at our level … not compared to what we’ve seen in previous games,” said Lions first-year coach Bryan Winkler, who has coached in the area for 36 years, most recently at Tumwater. “We’re going to keep working at it. We’re going to stay humble. We stay prepared.”
