Between Feb. 8 and 14, The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 213 requests for services, among them the following:
Feb. 8
Car fire: (Pacific). Having responded to an engine compartment ablaze near an apartment building, firefighters snuffed out the flames, thereby keeping the fire from leaping to other vehicles.
Feb. 9
Aid call: 2:10 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medics helped a woman who was complaining of chest pains, and medics motored her off to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further evaluation.
Feb. 10
Aid call: 6:47 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated an older woman who had slipped and fallen and was complaining of right hip pain, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
Feb. 11
Accident: 2:33 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responded to a two-car accident. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but none of the three people involved was hurt. VRFA firefighters helped with traffic control until tow trucks showed up to take away the vehicles.
Feb. 12
Aid Call: 10:45 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated a young woman with premature labor contractions and transported her to a local hospital.
Feb. 14
Aid call: 7:12 a.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a woman in the throes of severe respiratory difficulty at a care facility, and medics zipped her off to MAMC in stable condition.
