Welding classes have been cancelled through Monday after an electrical problem was found in the Green River College Trades Technologies building Friday morning, school officials said.

Classes and operations are expected to resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Josh Clearman, the dean of Trades and Technology, Trades faculty and members of the facilities discovered an electrical issue in the welding department. They deemed conditions unsafe and cancelled classes Friday.

The college is hiring a third-party electrical engineer to inspect the facility and provide guidance in moving forward.

As an additional precaution, all Trades classes are cancelled through the weekend.

Manufacturing, automotive, carpentry, welding and administrative staff will be working at alternate locations on Monday.

The dean of Trades and Technology or other supervisors in the area will determine alternative work locations on campus, and inform faculty and staff where they should report on Monday.
