Gerald A. McBreen took first place in a short story contest sponsored by Northern Stars, a family adventure magazine out of Michigan featuring short stories and poetry.
“The Wish” is McBreen’s first award for Flash Fiction. It is a twist on the cautionary slogan, “Be careful of what you wish for.”
Better known for his poetry, McBreen is the coordinator for Striped Water Poets and poet laureate for the City of Pacific. His Poem of the Month is on display at Pacific City Hall.
His poetry won three honorable mentions last year.
McBreen is a retired letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service out of Auburn.
