Auburn VFW Post 1741 is asking for the public’s help in retrieving and properly retiring tattered and worn flags in the community.
The Post received a VFW national award and recognition for its community Americanism program in 2008. Since the program began, the Post has replaced several hundred flags in the Auburn community.
After retrieval of a flag, the Post gives the flag to American Legion Post 78, which honorably retires the flag in a ritual burning ceremony.
If anyone in Auburn finds a worn or tattered flag, please call VFW Post 1741 at 253-293-5839 and provide a location.
