The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 253 calls for service between May 22 and 28, among them the following:
May 22
Smoke investigation: 6:21 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters called to investigate smoke along the White River found a couple who were tending a cooking fire, so they extinguished the fire and advised the errant duo of outdoor burning regulations.
May 23
Accident: 6:25 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a single car into a retaining wall evaluated the driver, a middle-aged woman, and a fire department aid unit transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
May 24
Aid call: 12:05 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated a boy with a dislocated shoulder, and his grandfather transported him to MAMC for further evaluation.
May 25
Aid call: 12:23 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters helped a young woman who was complaining of a rapid heart rate and an anxiety attack and left her at home in the care of a family member.
May 26
Motorcycle accident: 6:50 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a single motorcycle accident arrived to find the rider, a young man, on the ground. They assessed the man, treated him on scene, and a VRFA aid unit transported him to MAMC for further evaluation.
May 27
Aid call: 6:06 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters dispatched to help a middle-aged woman with high blood sugar levels treated her for nausea, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
May 28
Brush fire: 3:54 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a small brush fire in an apartment complex quickly extinguished it using a hand line. Crews stayed on scene to overhaul the surrounding shrubs. An improperly discarded cigarette was the likely cause.
