The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 256 calls for service between July 24 and 30, among which were the following:

July 24

Aid call: 10:11 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters helped a woman who was complaining of leg numbness, and a private ambulance zipped her off to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

July 25

Service Call: 8:38 a.m., (South Auburn). Dispatched to a report of a water leaking from a water heater and flooding a home, firefighters met with the home owner, secured the water to the house and shut off gas to the water heater. Firefighters then hooked up a hose, drained the water heater and advised the homeowner to contact her insurance company.

July 26

Bark Fire: 12:30 p.m., (Lakeland). Firefighters responding to a bark fire in Lakeland Hills discovered that several homeowners had already snuffed out the conflagration, so they advised them about defensible space.

July 27

Aid call: 12:07 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a woman who was complaining of back pain, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.

July 28

Patient assist: 8:34 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters helped a man who had fallen and needed help to get back up to his chair before leaving him with information on a King County fall protection program.

July 29

Car fire: 5:03 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a car fire at the Seasons apartment complex learned that the engine compartment had caught fire while its owner was driving home, and that quick-acting bystanders had already put out the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher. Mechanical failure was to blame.

July 30

Aid call: 2:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters dispatched to Emerald Downs for a jockey with heat-related symptoms – one of several heat-related calls that day – joined King County Medics in treating the man before a private ambulance motored him to MAMC.
