The City of Pacific honored some of its finest volunteers at its annual Citizen of the Year Appreciation Dinner/Celebration on April 7.

Pastor Frank Emrich was selected Citizen of the Year. Bill Bergman was chosen the Youth-Focused Citizen of the Year, and Joseph Hernandez earned Senior-Focused Citizen of the Year honors.

Others nominated were Brian Perkins, John Baxter, Shirley Thomson and Terry Fahrenkrug.

Mayor Leanne Guier, a huge proponent of volunteerism, presented each nominee with a certificate or plaque and read about their contributions to the crowd.

Collectively, the nominees have given rides to seniors; supported the food program for youth called Pack the Pack; visited shut-ins; served youth and veterans; worked with the committee that puts on Pacific Days; and served behind the scenes to support others in the community.

The Community Services Department and volunteers from Valley Bible Church hosted the event.
