Scoff laws who ignore rules for being in an HOV lane, pay attention.

Fines for wrongdoers go up July 28, per one of the bills Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed into law after the recent legislative session.

Go stag in the carpool lane, boom, the state’ll hit you with an extra $50 penalty above the established $136 fine. Note:that extra is only for the first infraction. Do it again within two years, you’ll be shelling out an additional $150 — each time.

And if you go to the trouble of putting a doll or dummy in a seat or seats, know this: if they catch you, you’ll pay a separate penalty of $200.
