The Almost 5K Poker Fun Run & Walk – a part of AuburnFest weekend – offers a price-saving entry fee.
The run begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth St. SE. The run is sponsored in part by Auburn Sports Physical Therapy, ProAmpac and the Auburn Reporter.
Register by Monday, Aug. 5 and pay $13 for entry. Register online. Enter code: BLUFF at checkout to receive the $5 discount.
All registrants will receive a T-shirt.
The run/walk covers five loops around the park – “almost” a 5K, short by 1,138 feet. For each lap around the loop, participants will stop, draw a card and try to get the best poker hand with the five cards drawn. Prizes will be awarded for the top poker hand in each age category (awarded from the stage at 8:30 p.m.). The route is flat, easy and enjoyable for all ages and abilities.
The run joins the City of Auburn’s Summer Sounds & Cinema concert and outdoor movie event at the park. The night will consist of two musical performances on the main stage – Joanie Leeds at 6 and Nate Botsford at 7. The movie, “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” (PG) will start in the park at dusk. Food concessions/food trucks, inflatable rides and an ArtRageous hands-on art activity will be available.
