Scott Petersen, The Reptile Man, shows his snake, Oscar the Python, to kids during Algona Family Fun Days at Machett Park on Friday.

The show was among the attractions that opened the two-day celebration that continues throughout Saturday in the park, 402 Warde St.

Peterson, a zoologist and educator from Monroe, presents live reptiles in a 40-minute show that teaches the importance of all animals in nature. He has been featured nationally on Disney’s “Bill Nye the Science Guy” and on PBS’ “Biz Kids.”
