Register for the Santa Parade set for Dec. 7

Registration is open for Auburn’s Dec. 7 Santa Parade on Main Street.

The downtown parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. Participants are asked to report to the lineup area at E Street Northeast and Main Street at 4 p.m.

Organizers are introducing a lighted parade this year, featuring a variety of drill teams, dancers, children’s groups and one-of-a-kind cars. All entries must be completely lighted.

The parade route travels west along Main Street from E Street NE to A Street NW.

Parade entry is free for families, scout troops, school groups, dance, cheer, drill, band and all other nonprofit groups. There is a $10 entry fee for commercial businesses.

Nominate a child to help Santa light the tree

The city of Auburn is looking for an “official tree lighter” – a special, well-deserving child between the ages of 5 and 9 to help Santa light the tree at City Hall Plaza, on Dec. 7, following the Santa Parade.

The city of Auburn will accept nominations through 9 a.m. Dec. 2. One randomly selected entrant will be chosen and contacted by Dec. 4.
