Between July 12 and July 18, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 299 calls for service, among them the following:

July 12

Aid call: 6:23 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters stabilized a woman in her mid 80s who had fallen and was complaining of neck and back pain, and a VRFA aid unit zipped her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

July 13

Vehicle fire: 7:24 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters arrived at a reported vehicle fire and found the flames out, but found a suspicious wire connecting the car’s under-carriage with its trunk. The vehicle also appeared to be abandoned. Firefighters called in Auburn Police, and the bomb squad was dispatched to investigate the wire. The bomb squad used its robot to get into the trunk and determined there was no bomb present. The incident is under investigation.

July 14

Aid call: 1:22 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters helped a man who had walked to Station 32, behaving erratically and hallucinating as he went along that a man with a gun was chasing him. The man refused to be examined or treated. The man did not meet any criteria for involuntary admission to the hospital by the Auburn Police Department, and left the scene.

July 15

Assault: 5:50 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a call for aid at a local repair shop found a man bleeding from what appeared to be an assault with a hammer. Firefighters called in King County Medic One for advanced life support care, and paramedics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Brush fires: 5:52 p.m. (Auburn). VRFA fire units responding to a point near the Auburn Golf Course for a smoke investigation spotted smoke west of where they were, and when they got there, they found three small brush fires off the Green River Trail. Firefighters called in multiple units, and crews extinguished the fire and dug lines around the perimeters.

July 16

Aid call: 8:16 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated an elderly woman who was confused and lost, and found injuries that required further medical treatment in a hospital setting, so a VRFA aid unit transported her to a local hospital and reunited her with her family.

July 17

Aid call: 1:35 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics examined a woman who was unconscious and unresponsive, and paramedics transported her to MAMC.

July 18

Accident: 1:10 p.m. (Auburn). Medics evaluated a man who had rolled his vehicle over into an empty retention pond 15 feet below the road, and the VRFA transported him to MAMC.
