Auburn, Auburn Mountainview gymnasts compete at state

Four Auburn Mountainview and one Auburn gymnast were among hundreds of athletes competing for gold at the state Class 3A and 4A championships this past weekend at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

Four Auburn Mountainview and one Auburn gymnast were among hundreds of athletes competing for gold at the state Class 3A and 4A championships this past weekend at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

Auburn Mountainview senior Hanna Houck competed individually in three events. She finished 24th on the beam with a score of 8.725, tied for 64th in the floor exercise (8.775) and tied for 55th on the vault (8.100). Houck notched an all-around score of 32.600, despite not competing on the uneven bars.

Teammate and fellow senior Kelly Watrous also competed in three events, finishing tied for 38th on the bars with a 8.300, tied for 85th in the floor (8.150) and tied for 77th on the vault (8.000).

Lion senior Emily Morgan finished 88th on the bars with a 5.975 and senior Delaney Ralph was tied for 62nd on the beam with a 7.500.

In the 4A individual competition, Auburn senior Ashley Bechard was 40th on the beam with an 8.000. Woodinville’s Marisa Savage was first in the all-around with a 37.950. Woodinville also came out on top in the team competition with a 180.475.

In 3A, Kamiakin’s Alexi Lawrence won the all-around with a 38.300 and Woodinville was the team champ with a 181.700.
