Major Ali ran for 150 yards and scored a 7-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter as Peninsula defeated Auburn Mountainview 25-20 in a South Puget Sound League 3A showdown Friday night at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

The Seahawks (5-0 in league, 6-1 overall) have all but clinched their third straight league title.

The Lions dropped to 4-1 and 6-1.

Gresch Jensen threw two TDs – 25 yards to Abenego Kondiano and 9 yards to Kijan Weisinger – for the Lions.

Gavin Robertson scored on an 8-yard run.

Auburn Mountainview faces Auburn at 7 p.m. this Friday. Peninsula travels to winless Auburn Riverside for a 7 p.m. game Thursday.

Elsewhere:

Auburn 24, Bonney Lake 21: Malik Williams returned a punt 47 yards as the Trojans (4-1, 5-2) held off the Panthers (1-4, 2-5) at Sumner.

The Trojans’ Justin Ioimo scored on a 5-yard run and Dillon O’Grady caught an 18-yard scoring pass from Nick Caatz. Caden Borden booted a 24-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

At Enumclaw 23, Auburn Riverside 13: Kyle Sutrick and Marcus Atafua scored on short-yardage runs for the Ravens (0-5, 0-7) in their loss to the Hornets (2-3, 3-4).
